As a child that spent many summer hours on the golf course, hats became my favorite way to express myself and stand out on the course. As my collection grew, my father recalled an old friend of his that displayed his hat collection along the walls of his motorcycle shop. Uncle Marty, as we called him, paid a visit one day along with his hat collection which my brother and I were desperate to see. Each hat with a story, a time capsule of his travels and adventures over the years. Without realizing the true intention of his visit, Marty gifted us his entire collection.

With 100’s of vintage hats to sort through  I quickly fell in love with the rope cap. A classic yet simple accessory that seemed to be forgotten with modern styles.
With vintage hats it wasn’t uncommon for them to have some wear and tear. Dry rot foam, brittle snap backs, and ropes pulled out from the seams. I learned to clean and replace such parts and restore the hats to their original glory.

The restoration process led me to realize that a cord can be added to any hat. I spent free time sewing in cords to customize hats of my own, and my friend’s.
In search of an better way to add a cord, I sought to create an interchangeable system that allows anyone to easily customize their favorite hat or hats. I am proud to introduce everyone to Kap Kordz.
